Description
Broccoli microgreens are in phase II of the broccoli plant life cycle. At this stage they contain up to 40 times the nutrients and minerals than a mature head of broccoli. Adding broccoli microgreens to your meals gives you the same benefits in a much smaller, nutrient dense and easier-to-use package.
Available in 2 sizes:
Deli container - The weight of the broccoli microgreens averages 40 grams per container. Fresh microgreens are packaged in sustainable, commercial compostable, clear deli containers. **LOCAL DELIVERIES ONLY**
1020 trays - Fresh microgreens are harvested from a 1020 grow tray and packaged in a 2 quart square reusable container. **LOCAL DELIVERIES ONLY**
Other sizes available upon special request. Contact store for availability and pricing.
Appearance
A simple microgreen with deep green cotyledons and a white stem.
Flavor
Mild, crunchy, dense with a hint of bitterness; like a more flavorful full-sized broccoli.
Health Benefits
Microgreens are packed with nutrients. Broccoli microgreens contain higher amounts of sulforaphane available compared to other foods. This compound is believed to fight inflammation, aid in cancer prevention, improve heart health, and improve digestion. While their nutrient contents vary slightly, most varieties tend to be rich in potassium, iron, zinc, magnesium, and copper. Microgreens are also a great source of beneficial plant compounds like antioxidants. What’s more, their nutrient content is concentrated, which means that they often contain higher vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant levels than the same quantity of mature greens.
Suggested Uses
When you're looking to amp up your nutritional daily intake, broccoli microgreens work well with most meals. Here are some of our favorite uses:
Breakfast - Add them to your morning smoothies or stuff them into your favorite omelet or breakfast burrito.
Lunch - Use them as a replacement for lettuce on virtually any sandwich or wrap. Fold them into soups or deli salads.
Dinner - Top green salads with them or onto a baked potato with a little cheddar cheese.
